MA11 registration and Awards applications now open

MA11 conference registration is now open online here, with earlybird rates available until 25 February 2011. The website includes the conference programme, our three international keynote speakers – Annabel Westman, Alec Coles and Shane Simpson – sessions at Whakatu Marae, governance and decorative arts workshops, and Collections BarCamp, as well as the all-important social events.

Our hosts at The Suter and Nelson Provincial Museum have been telling us all about their wonderful region, where the sun shines, and the arts and culture are celebrated daily. So plan to join your friends and colleagues in Nelson, 13-16 April 2011. If you have any queries, or would prefer not to register online, just contact us.

We will be celebrating the 2011 NZ Museum Awards alongside the conference, and entries are now open.

This year, we have expanded the number of awards, and simplified the award categories to just two. The Museum Achievement Awards will include exhibitions, public programmes, research or other kinds of museum and gallery projects. The judges will recognise a range of achievements such as exhibition design, small museum project, innovation and technology.

We also invite nominations for the Individual Achievement Award for 2011.

We are delighted to have Story Inc on board again as our major sponsor, with Selecon again providing a major prize in the Museum Achievement category – a $3,000 study grant.

For more information and application forms, check out our website here.

In the run-up to the awards and MA11 conference, follow us through our website, these blog posts, Facebook and Twitter – stay connected!

We look forward to sharing the great work you do with colleagues and promoting it to the public, so make sure you enter by 24 February 2011.

And we also wish you a happy and relaxing holiday season.

Naku noa, na

Phillipa and Sophie
